What are the possible side effects of Robitussin Cold & Flu?

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Robitussin Cold & Flu: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using Robitussin Cold & Flu and call your doctor at once if you have:

• fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat;

• severe dizziness or anxiety;

• easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or

• dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, ringing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, trouble breathing, uneven heart rate, seizure).

Common Robitussin Cold & Flu side effects may include:

• loss of appetite;

• warmth, tingling, or redness under your skin;

• feeling restless or excited (especially in children);

• sleep problems (insomnia); or

• skin rash or itching.

If any of the following side effects occur while taking Robitussin Cold & Flu, check with your doctor or nurse immediately:

• Blurred vision
• chest pain or discomfort
• difficult or labored breathing
• dizziness
• fainting
• fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
• headache
• nausea or vomiting
• nervousness
• pain in the shoulders, arms, jaw, or neck
• pounding in the ears
• sweating
• tightness in the chest
• unusual tiredness

If any of the following symptoms of overdose occur while taking Robitussin Cold & Flu, get emergency help immediately:

• Feeling of fullness in the head
• pounding or rapid pulse
• tingling in the arms or legs
• vomiting

Minor Side Effects

Some of the side effects that can occur with Robitussin Cold & Flu may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:

What is the most important information I should know about Robitussin Cold & Flu?

• Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid may cause dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid. Using Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
• If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if you develop a high fever, check with your doctor.
• If you have trouble sleeping, ask your pharmacist or doctor about the best time to take Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid.
• Do not take diet or appetite control medicines while you are taking Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid.
• Phenylketonuria patients - Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid may contain phenylalanine.
• Diabetes patients - Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
• Use Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid with caution in the ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to its effects.
• Use Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid with extreme caution in CHILDREN younger than 2 years of age. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid during pregnancy. It is unknown if Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

When used for long periods of time or at high doses, some people develop a need to continue taking Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid. This is known as DEPENDENCE or addiction. If you are addicted and suddenly stop taking Robitussin Cold & Flu liquid, you may experience WITHDRAWAL symptoms, including depression.

Robitussin Cold & Flu contraindications

Minims Robitussin Cold & Flu hydrochloride should not be used in patients with severe hypertension, ventricular tachycardia, or in patients who are hypersensitive to it or to any of the components.
